1.1.11

I can't believe I've just passed December without any post. It was a busy fussy December and I'm so thankful I've finally gone through everything. So, I thought that it would be nice to have a decent meal together as the first meal in 2011. Our choice is the duck meal!

This restaurant named 巧廚烤鴨 is specialized in Hong Kong style roast duck. Their thousand-year old egg porridge (皮蛋粥) is also popular, besides they provide other menus like gravy rice, fried noodle, ramen, soup, kimchi.

I was awed by the phonograph record collection when I first entered this place. The owner is a music lover and still plays the music on that vintage device. The best thing is we can put on our music request while eating, love it!

Here come the food:

Roast duck (skin with a layer of meat) + dipping sauce + spring onions
Pancakes to wrap the duck ~ yummy!
Remainder of the duck stirred up with vegetable, chili & shacha sauce
Tofu and thousand-year old egg

The special thing about the thousand-year old egg here is that the yolk is yellow despite of gray, but still with the delicious sticky texture. Overall, it's a very satisfying lunch and costs us around 100NT per person.

Have a won-duck-ful New Year, everyone!

Some trivia:
  1. The owner is a Christian, so they rest and close every Sunday.
  2. They employ the diffable as waiter (remind me of I am Sam).
  3. The owner's daughter is very beautiful, that's why many young boys like to dine in.
